Southern Way Direct Care Service Inc. is a local, non-government, not for profit, charitable organisation that provides high quality support, accommodation, life skills training and community access to people with disabilities primarily in Warrnambool as well as the South West region of Victoria. Southern Way was established in 1990, is incorporated under the Association Incorporation Act 1981 and is a key member of ‘South West Disability Network’ and ‘Community South West’ which are a consortium of other regional community service organisations working in collaboration for the benefit of clients. Today, services are provided to over 150 people by a stable, qualified, experienced work force of 80 staff. Gross operating expenditure currently amounts to $4.6 million p.a.

 Mission – To provide a range of accommodation, programs and services based on peoples individual needs and to work with our community to enhance opportunities for the people we support

  • Client Focus –refers to being focused at all times on achieving client goals and aspirations (daily living, health and wellbeing, accommodation, learning, relationships, control and choice, social and community participation)
  • Trust – refers to staff being trusted by their managers to undertake their work in a caring and professional manner. It also acknowledges the importance placed on trust by people with disabilities and their families.
  • Respect – We respect the individuality of all and embrace the collective strength gained from each other’s support. Respect will be demonstrated by assuring confidentiality and privacy at all times, respecting differences and being aware of individual freedoms and values.
  • Inclusion – refers to staff genuine belief in the rights of people with a disability to have full social and economic participation
  • Feedback & Communication – We encourage open communication at all levels through active participation, sharing of opinions and listening to feedback
